What it does
Matterport's camera scans a real space and stitches the result into a photorealistic digital twin someone can walk through remotely, closer to a real visit than a set of photos. In construction, that's most useful for documenting existing conditions before a renovation or finished work before it gets covered by later trades, and the underlying point cloud data can feed into a BIM model for existing conditions modeling. The camera itself is a real upfront cost, which is worth weighing against how often a company would actually use it.
