What it does
P6 handles scheduling at a scale general-purpose tools aren't built for, tracking a single massive project or dozens of projects running at once inside one program. Its critical path method engine calculates which activities directly control a project's finish date and how much float every other activity has before its own slip would push that finish date too. Its resource optimization tools let a scheduler model whether a crew or a piece of equipment is overcommitted across multiple projects before that conflict actually shows up on the jobsite.
